The Heavy Equipment Operator Certificate program provides students with the skills needed for entry level positions operating heavy equipment in the construction; oil and gas; infrastructure; or mining industries.

Using a combination of classroom and field instruction (with hands-on experience), students learn to operate numerous  pieces of heavy equipment, including: compactors, loaders, dozers, graders, and excavators.

This program prepares the graduate to work in the role of Kitchen Manager in institutional, residential and camp facilities. The Kitchen Management Certificate consists of a variety of learning environments including in-class, online and independent study.


The Management Certificate provides basic business skills training which may assist students in securing management positions. The Certificate also provides students with opportunities to further advance their studies at RDC in the field of business.

This program is delivered in a blended format in Rocky Mountain House and Stettler/Drumheller.

Applications for the program in Rocky Mountain House and Stettler/Drumheller will open on October 1, 2018 for the 2019/2020 academic year.

The program will be delivered over two years; 2019-2020 and 2020-2021. The Practical Nurse Program prepares the graduate to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) following graduation and successful completion of the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Exam. As an LPN, the graduate will provide nursing care in a variety of health care settings, such as hospitals, community settings, extended care facilities, home care, and other health care agencies.
